Typefaces that help
Five to choose from, including OpenDyslexic and Atkinson Hyperlegible — the latter drawn for low vision, and used for every word on this page.
Pick your highlight colour
Soft green, soft blue, rose or warm orange. Whichever you choose, the word being read stays sharply legible against it.
Any speed, still human
Slow it down to follow closely or push to 2.5× to get through a chapter. The voice keeps its pitch — no chipmunk.

Do I need both the extension and the app?
No — pick whichever fits. The extension is for reading pages you're already on: news, blogs, documentation, an AI chat. The app is for everything else: text you paste, files you drop in, and the built-in books. Most people end up using both without thinking about it.
Is the demo on this page a real recording?
It's the real voice engine, reading those passages. Press play and what you hear — including the way the highlight lands on each word — is exactly what you get.
What does it cost?
You can start without paying anything and without a card — enough listening to read a few articles and decide whether the voices and the highlighting work for you. Carrying on after that is a paid plan, and you'll see exactly what it costs before you're ever asked for a card. Cancel any time.
Can it read something really long?
Yes — on a paid plan there's no character cap, so paste a whole book if you like. Long documents start playing within a few seconds and keep preparing the rest while you listen, so you're never sat waiting for a progress bar. The free trial is limited by listening time rather than by document length.
What languages does it speak?
Twenty-four, including English, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, German, Dutch, Polish, Swedish, Ukrainian, Hindi, Japanese and Mandarin. Several have both a male and a female voice.
Will it work on a scanned PDF?
Not yet. If a PDF is really just photographs of pages with no text underneath, ReadVoice will tell you so when you add it rather than reading you silence. Ordinary PDFs are fine.
Does it help with dyslexia or ADHD?
Plenty of people find that hearing text while watching the words light up makes it far easier to stay with — that's who this was built for. It isn't a medical device and we won't pretend it's a treatment, but the fonts, colours, speeds and highlighting are all here to be adjusted until reading stops being a fight.
Can I listen to YouTube videos?
Paste a link and ReadVoice writes out what's said, split into short timestamped sections you can read along with or skim. The same works for an audio or video file off your own computer.
